Anna Seymour is a Melbourne-based performing artist, dance maker and producer.
Anna, bi-lingual in Auslan and English, is a proud Deaf woman with a passion for her community, culture and language.
Completing a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) in 2012, she has worked for various companies and choreographers including Ballet Lab and KAGE.
Co-founder and Artistic Director of The Delta Project, a dance company of Deaf and hearing performers based in Melbourne. Productions include: Collisions (Deakin University Theatre, 2012) and Under My Skin, (Next Wave, 2016). The Delta Project is developing a new work in 2019/2020 choreographed by Stephanie Lake.
Anna’s choreographic credits include; Distraction Society (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2016), SPIN (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2018) receiving the Spirit of the Fringe Award, Skin (Melbourne Recital Centre, 2019) and Mini SPIN (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2019 & Darebin Arts Speakeasy 2020).
Anna has worked as an actress for TV (ABC’s Get Krack!n), film (Volatilis) and theatre (Deafferent Theatre). With Deafferent Theatre she performed in Black is the Colour (Melbourne Fringe) earning her a Green Room Award nomination for Best Performer in Independent Theatre.
Anna collaborates widely with artists across different art-forms including her mural painted by Guido van Helten in Prahran exploring people’s relationship to architecture and public spaces. Anna is widely sought as a cultural consultant for Deaf artists and to deliver movement workshops for different ages and abilities.
Anna has spent time in residence in New York (OMI), Berlin (Arts Access Australia) Hobart (SITUATE) and Melbourne (Chunky Move and Lucy Guerin Inc).
Anna worked as Assistant Producer for the 2019 Melbourne Fringe Festival and is regularly involved in the Deaf community as artist, teacher and advocate. Later in 2020, Anna will join Candoco Dance Company in London as a company dancer for their 2020/2022 season.
